Once the biryani is cooked, it is typically served with a dollop of yogurt or raita, and a sprinkle of chopped scallions, cilantro, or mint.

Ingredients of Chicken Biryani

·        2 cups long grain rice

·        1 chicken, cut into pieces

·        1 onion, chopped

·        1 tablespoon ghee or oil

·        1 teaspoon cumin seeds

·        1 teaspoon ground coriander

·        1 teaspoon ground turmeric

·        1 teaspoon salt

·        1 cup water

·        1 cup yogurt

·        1 tablespoon lemon juice

·        1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro

 To make the raita, you will need:

·        1 cup yogurt

·        1 cucumber, peeled and grated

·        1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint

·        1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro

·        1 teaspoon ground cumin

·        1 teaspoon salt

·        1/2 teaspoon black pepper

The first step in making biryani is to cook the rice. Rinse the rice in cold water and then drain. Place the rice in a large saucepan with 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Cover the pan and simmer for another 10 minutes, or until the rice is tender and cooked through.

While the rice is cooking, prepare the chicken. Season the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and the spices. Heat the ghee or oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5 minutes, or until browned. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes, or until softened.

When the rice is cooked, add it to the skillet with the chicken and onion. Stir in the yogurt, lemon juice, and cilantro. To make the raita, combine the yogurt, cucumber, mint, cilantro, cumin, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Serve the biryani over a bed of the raita.
